#HackingTech: Harnessing technology for underserved families with limited health literacy
Are you interested in how to better use technology to reach underserved families with limited health literacy during COVID-19? Does creating or studying new innovative resources and technologies that are particularly advantageous for these populations intrigue you? If yes, join us at the Health Literacy/Serving the Underserved joint Special Interest Group meeting. We will be offering a dynamic presentation featuring discussions about challenges faced by underserved families with limited health literacy when using technology for health. We will also feature innovative ways technology has been used to address these challenges. Participants are encouraged to bring ideas regarding projects involving technology use with underserved families with limited health literacy. We hope that after hearing and participating in the discussions, participants will be inspired to discuss ideas about future projects and collaboration! Students, residents, and faculty are all welcome.
Objectives:
1. Identify challenges underserved families with limited health literacy face while accessing and using technology particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
2. Discuss existing technology tools which have been developed to better serve underserved families with limited health literacy.
3. Identify opportunities to adapt technology to better serve underserved families with limited health literacy.
