Today is National Interpreter Appreciation Day!🦋 Get to know Narayan from the Language Services team and learn about his role: “Effective communication is a shared responsibility between health care providers and patients/families, and this falls within the journey to Best Outcomes. Medical interpreters are a critical part of this journey for services provided to limited English proficient patients and families. My goal is to make sure I bridge the communication gap effectively, linguistically and culturally appropriate, so that providers and families make the best health care decisions.” 🔗Learn more and apply to be a medical interpreter at https://bit.ly/44l4zuG

🦋 Part 3/3: “We are pushing the envelope and pushing forward medical care. There was not a surgery or a medical intervention that needed to be physically performed for Ghaith. But knowing that a medication could be given within the first minutes of life was what we had to offer. Ghaith’s care was also significantly impacted by our knowledge of his disease because of the diagnosis that Dr. Chaudhari made for Ghaith’s brother, Jeyad.” -Amy Brown Schlegel, MD, Neonatologist Watch part 3 of this incredible story and see how the family is doing now. 🦋 Part 2/3: Ghaith was diagnosed with Molybdenum Cofactor Deficiency Type A while still in utero and a care team with experts from The Fetal Center, Genomic Medicine, Neonatology and Neurology was formed. Through this partnership, they delivered Ghaith at 32 weeks, allowing him to be the earliest baby receiving treatment for his disease. "This was the earliest treatment of a baby with Molybdenum Cofactor. We were able to attack the disease before there was significant brain damage." -Adolfo Etchegaray, MD, Chief of Fetal Medicine Learn more about The Fetal Center at Nationwide Children's: https://bit.ly/3QIcr3V #NCHFetal #RareDisease
